East Midlands Airport Employment and Skills Academy was founded to help people of all ages and backgrounds to upskill and find their perfect job at the airport. The Academy is under direct management of Manchester Airports Group (MAG), who own and operate East Midlands Airport.
The on-site facility is a one-stop for anyone interested in upskilling and on-site vacancies and provides free and tailored aviation training programmes to enable job seekers to gain relevant skills, and secure employment with one of more than 90 on-site employers.
The Academy learners receive unique support when applying for roles following the programme, including CV and mock interview workshops. The Academy team also provides free training programmes to all existing on-site employees keen to upskill and progress their careers within the aviation sector.
East Midlands Airport (EMA), owned and operated by MAG (Manchester Airports Group) is the region’s gateway to mainland Europe, Eastern Europe and North Africa. Served by airlines Ryanair, Jet2, TUI, Flybe, Aurigny and Eastern Airways, the eight million people who live within an hour’s drive of the airport are well catered for in terms of leisure connectivity with a choice of more than 60 international and domestic destinations.
Handling 420,000 tonnes of cargo a year, EMA is also home to the UK’s largest dedicated air cargo operation and is the UK’s no.1 airport for express freight. Over 9,000 people work across the entire airport site for a wide range of employers many of which support the aviation sector.
The East Midlands Airport Academy is located in Building 110, which is a short walk from the airport terminal. The Academy provides a free recruitment service to all on-site partners. The team have a working knowledge of the airport and its operations and understand what employers need in potential candidates.
We have a database of work ready candidates and we work hard to match the right person to each job role. This service means that all candidates are pre-screened, saving employers’ resources and speeding up the recruitment process.
